My bride is a mermaid is about a young boy, called Nagasumi Michishio, and his parents who have gone to visit his grandma on a island called Seto island. One day when Nagasumi and his father go swimming he gets pulled out into the sea and gets a cramp on his foot and starts to drown, but he is saved by someone who he believes is a mermaid, his parents tell him that it is a load of nonsense but his grandma believes later that night a young girl comes over to his house and introduces herself as Sun Seto and she has two body guards with her. she tells Nagasumi's parents that she had saved Nagasumi from drowning, and that her parents want to meet them, then they take them underwater where they find out that they are really mermaids,and that they are yakuza (mafia), and that Nagasumi has to marry Sun to keep the secret of the mermaids by being joined into their family or he will die.
This anime is mainly seen as a comedy but also has separate genres, such as action.
